When William III and Mary II sat on the throne in 1689, they utilized the services of Sir Christopher Wren to design a new baroque palace for them. Wren originally planned to demolish most of the Tudor palace. However, he later changed his plans and started by building the Fountain Court The Fountain Court's construction began in 1689 and it was completed in 1694. William III envisioned to rival the Palace of Versailles of Louis XIV with the baroque renovation of the Hampton Palace ("Hampton...").
